Inexpensive Wedding Ideas
Getting cold feet yet? Ah, don’t fret; we all tend to get a dose of the frigid toes when that date draws near. It’s perfectly natural to wonder, worry, panic, become frantic and possible consider skipping town. Well, maybe not to that extreme, but we all get nervous before the big date. Probably one of the greatest causes of this stress is the wedding budget. Some people go way overboard with the ceremony expenses and lavish venues. What happened to all the classic inexpensive wedding ideas? You know, the ones that had a stronger focus on love than they did cold-hard cash. Let’s get back to the basics and remember what this occasion is truly about.
I am all for the less expensive wedding. Sure, I believe that it’s a HUGE occasion, and should NOT be taken lightly or with a grain of salt, but let’s be realistic here. Getting married is not about going bankrupt or plunging deep into debt. It’s about unity with your soul mate and celebration with friends and family. Let me provide an example. This one is the polar opposite of inexpensive wedding ideas. A couple my wife and I were watching on one of those wedding reality shows were in the midst of planning their ideal wedding. Fair enough. However, once they had acquired the desirable venue, sent out the invitations and ordered the catering service, they were already at 20 grand. Now this is not including rings, a dress, a tux, a cake, bouquet, honeymoon, ect. That’s horrible! I’m talking about a middle class couple who don’t even bring in 100 grand a year combined. How in the world will they afford this? They basically can’t. The husband already mentioned they’d be deep in debt. Not to mention all the other expenses regarding the ceremony and honeymoon that are yet to come. What were they thinking? They should have gone with inexpensive wedding ideas from the beginning.
When I sorted through inexpensive wedding ideas with my wife, we were able to do a destination wedding/honeymoon all in one. We did the Savannah thing and it was outstanding. Imagine 10 days at a luxurious B&B in the historical district, a fancy spa next-door, plenty of great restaurants, carriage rides, a ceremony in a beautiful courtyard, and all for under 10 grand. Now that’s the epitome of wonderful, yet inexpensive wedding ideas.
